How we are doing the the Pre Season polls

So far we have been ranked as high as 2 in Street and Smith's and you can order the cover to the left for $6.99 if you do not receive it in your area. They state that the South Florida game is a game to watch to see if we avenge our last season loss or see our national hopes end early. The best quote is "When Rich Rodriguez turned down the Alabama coaching job, one of his reasons had to be the wealth of talent he has returning to Morgantown. With a quarterback like Patrick White and a running back like Steve Slaton, among with another favorable schedule, the Mountaineers look like a prime candidate to make a national-championship run." I couldn't agree more with that statement. Sine we are playing Louisville in Morgantown and we have such a great fan base hopefully that will be the only close game.
Sporting News has us ranked as 4 in the pre season polls and stae that the South Florida game is the "best chance to be upset". Hope not. That Rutgers will be "toughest game" and the Louisville is a "must win." I really believe that if the team stays healthy and works hard they will go undefeated this year. They also have Steve Slaton listed in their Heisman watch.
Althlon has them ranked the lowest in the pre season at 5. They are saying that is we make it to October without a loss look for us to contend for a Big East and, possibly, a national title.
So far these are the only pre season magazines I have gotten to see haw we far in the polls.
Dennis Dodd at CBS Sportsline states " 3. West Virginia: With two Heisman candidates (Steve Slaton and Patrick White), this might be the nation's most explosive offense. The difference between Big East title and national title is the defense. Rich Rodriguez has to quit winning shootouts. "
As of today there will be 5 games shown on ESPN or ESPN2. Marshall, Maryland, South Florida, Louisville and Pitt.

No Nfl Draft

I think it is interesting that no WVU players were drafted during the NFL draft. Dan Moses who won the Remington award was not even drafted but did sign with the Minnesota Vikings while some of the others players also signed with several other NFL teams.

Huggins Era Part 2

I live in Ohio and read the local papers and watch the local news stations and have heard for years about Bob Huggins and how his players at Cincinnati acted and conducted themselves. Also, at the present time with Adam "Pacman" Jones and Chris Henry having all their problems in football this does not show well for WVU. We need to have a better program or parents will not want their kids to come to WVU.

The Huggins Era

Now that Bob Huggins is coing back to WVU as the 21st Men's Basketball coach how will he act and expect his players to act. Since he has one of the worst graduation rates as a men's coach I hope that he determines that a college education is important for his players for their future. I believe that both the football and the basketball programs would to smart to require the players to take a morals class during their freshman year.

NIT Semi's

We play Tuesday in the NIT semi-finals against Mississippi State both a #1 seed. It appears that we will be the away team. Hopefully, since the Big East tournament is at Madison Square Garden we will have an advantage in the game. How is everyone's bracket looking in the NCAA. Mine looks pretty bad but the team I picked to win is still in the mix.

WVU Women and Men both doing good

Both the Women's and the Men's basketball teams are doing well in the NCAA and the NIT. The Women's team beat Xavier on Saturday and had one of the higher upsets an 11 over a 6. They will next play LSU who are a 3 seed. Hopefully, the ladies can have a good game and beat the Lady Tigers.

The Men have 2 straight in the NIT over Delaware State and Massachusetts and will next play NC State in Morgantown. We did beat them earlier in the year in Charleston. Since we have a very good home record hopefully the men will keep in going.

Bad Weather

We in Ohio got some bad weather with lots of snow and ice. In the Dayton area we got 4 inches of snow topped by 1 inch of ice and then another 3 inches of snow. As can be seen in our backyard we have lots of snow and it will take forever to melt. The driveway will be an allday job today will trying to get the ice gone. The snow was done off yesterday and then we got the sleet and ice with more snow. The snow is gone but now I am trying to get the ice off the driveway. Wish me luck! I got part off but had to come in and warm up since is about 20 degrees in the sun.
